Residence in Spain
Temporary residence is the situation that authorizes the foreigners to remain in Spain, non-permanently, for a period of more than 3 months (stay) and less than 5 years (permanent residence).
The initial authorization of temporary residence is valid for 1 year and may be renewed by the request of the interested party in response to the circumstances that motivated its granting.
The Administration may grant a temporary residence permit for foreigners for rooted situations, as well as for humanitarian reasons, for collaboration with Justice or other exceptional circumstances determined by law. In these cases, the visa will not be required.
In order to authorize the temporary residence, it will be necessary to demonstrate that you don’t have criminal records in your background for the last years (not just in Spain, but in any country) and not appear as rejectable in the territorial space of countries with which Spain has signed an agreement in that sense.
